Leona lewis-Better in time-Spirit is the debut album by British singer and winner of the third series of The X Factor, Leona Lewis. On 25 April 2007, a press release was sent out revealing that Simon Cowell and Clive Davis would work together in a first-of-its-kind partnership on both the song and producer selection for the album. The album was said to have a September 2007 deadline, however, the UK release date was 12 November 2007 . It will be released in other European countries and in the United States on 18 March 2008. The release of the album marks Lewis as the first winner of a major television talent show in both the UK and USA to be given a major global launch with a debut album.

Madonna gets in the boxing ring for the April 2008 issue of Interview Magazine. The 49-year old is looking mighty fierce and ready to kick some major butt! In the accompanying interview, she talks about her adopted son David Banda’s life, bringing her daughter Lourdes with her to Malawi and on collaborating with Justin Timberlake. She said that she enjoyed writing with Justin, having psychoanalytic sessions before writing any songs. She adds, “I haven’t worked with a lot of songwriters where I’m instantly connected and start riffing and playing with the rhythm of the words.” Madonna’s new album ‘Hard Candy’ is set to drop in stores on April 29.

The bar where American Idol contestant Carly Smithson used to work at doesn’t want her back, not because she was a crappy employee but because they want her to win. Some of her co-workers at popular San Diego Irish bar The Field says that Carly is easy-going and good-natured. Her specialty as the bartender was serving Guinness beer with hearts and shamrock shapes in the foam. They also say that Carly would often sing at the bar after her Saturday night. She was practicing for Idol, I’d say. Singing in front of a room full of drunks probably isn’t any different than performing in front of Paula.

We all know that Madonna and Janet have a very icy relationship. With the recent release of Janet’s album and Madonna’s promotion of her upcoming album, it almost seems like we have the diva version of Kanye West and 50 Cent. They even have fierce covers to go against each other. Janet brought her own fierceness in the new issue of BlackBook Magazine. The diva was shot by glam master Matthew Rolston for the S&M inspired shoot. Miss Jackson works it in her photos! I wonder if she’s actually into S&M – her pics are too believable for her to not be.

Ashlee Simpson has announced some very important dates! Her new single, “Little Miss Obsessive,” which features Tom Higgenson of Plain White Ts, will be digitally released on 3/11. Then, her full-length Bittersweet World will hit stores and be available digitally on 4/22. Ashlee collaborated with some major players on this album including Timbaland, The Neptunes’ Chad Hugo, and Kenna. She felt “very lucky to work with people who are at the top of their game.”

After three sold out shows in the U.S. Tokio Hotel continues to set their sights on a Stateside invasion. It has just been announced that Tokio Hotel and their video for “Ready, Set, Go!” will be featured on MTV’s Discover & Download series the week of March 10th. If you’re only as good as the company you keep then Tokio Hotel is on the edge of stardom as past Discover & Download artists include Paramore, Plain White Ts and Amy Winehouse.

OneRepublic had one of the biggest songs of 2007 with their single ‘Apologize’. The band is now out with a new video for another single of theirs ‘Stop and Stare’. It pretty much goes to say that this band is no one hit wonder.
And it’s not just with those two songs. The band’s whole album is really good. It’s filled with a lot of radio-friendly songs and it’s bound to make them one of the breakout acts of 2008. I would even dare to say that OneRepublic is the American version of Coldplay – and that’s a really big compliment.
